MNA - Iran clobbered the Malaysia football side 6-0 in their second-leg qualifier of 2004 Athens Olympic Games here Friday. In front of over 65,000 fans in Azadi stadium, Iran took the lead in the 21st minute by striker Arash Borhani, who found the net with a spectacular bicycle kick.
The home side celebrated the second seven minutes before the interval when midfielder Iman Mob’ali rifled a 25-yard angled drive past the Malaysian keeper Muhammad Mustafa.
The attack-minded Iran came close to the third on 54 minutes as Mob’ali curling corner found the advancing defender Mohammad Nosrati, whose goal-bound header was sent back by Yosri in the goalmouth.
Sattar Zare’ forced a dive from Mustafa with a low shot two minutes later.
Iran’s nimble right winger Hossein Ka’bi made it 3-0 in the 70th minute as he well combined with Borhani and sent a delightful volley past Mustafa.
